Clinicians and researchers working in the field of medical genetics are invited to present their research work in the conference. Abstracts pertaining to all aspects of medical genetics are welcome.
Abstracts should be submitted by the first author/ presenter.
Registration of the first author/ presenter is mandatory prior to submission of the abstract.
Submission of more than one abstract as first author is permitted.
The size of the abstract (excluding the title, and author names and affiliations) should not exceed 250 words for a case report and 300 words for a research study.
One relevant figure/table is allowed for each abstract submission.
Abstracts can be submitted in the following categories:
A. Case reports/ Case series: Reports of novel/ interesting cases or case series including less than or equal to 10 patients. Exome reports with identification of novel genes or novel genotype-phenotype associations can also be submitted under this category.
B. Basic science studies: Studies pertaining to basic science research in Human Genetics.
C. Clinical research studies- Large clinical series, genetic epidemiological studies, prenatal imaging-based studies, diagnostic yield and test performance studies and other studies involving genetic research in clinical settings.
D. Miscellaneous- Other studies which do not fit into any of the above categories.
Abstracts pertaining to a research study should be submitted in this structured format: Background, Objectives, Methods, Observations, Discussion, Conclusion.
Abstracts pertaining to a case report should be submitted in this structured format: Introduction, Patient details, Discussion, Conclusion.
All abstracts should be submitted in the format provided below.
The last date for abstract submission is 15th October 2019.
The Scientific Committee will review all the submitted abstracts and the four best abstracts will be selected for oral presentation. The committee may reclassify the abstracts into a different category at their discretion.
All other abstracts will be accepted for poster presentation. The recommended size for the poster would be 90 cm (width) X 120 cm (height).
Confirmation of acceptance for oral/poster presentation and other details will be intimated to the first author by 30th October 2019.
All submitted abstracts will be published in the conference souvenir. In addition, the abstracts selected for oral presentation as well as the prize-winning posters will be published in the January – March 2020 issue of Genetic Clinics, the official journal of SIAMG.
